We were riding in the car and having an argument. She was upset over something and I didn't agree with her. The real crux of the matter finally rose to the surface. "You're my friend and you have to agree with me."
Out of nowhere, my mouth flew open and out came, "NO! I'm your friend and I have to tell you the truth."
I'll admit it...I'm a truth girl. I like knowing the truth. I like that Jesus promised that the truth would set us free. I like relying on the truth of God's word. It is the solid rock that we can stand on.
I don't always believe the truth though. There are times when it's easier to believe the lies...the lies that Satan tries to pass off as true.
You're not good enough.
You don't have what it takes.
You'll never be used in ministry again.
Over and over and over again, he tries to get us to believe the lies. I'm convinced the only way to combat him and his lies is with the truth of God's word.
God says I'm more than good enough through Christ.
God says I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
God says I will complete the things He has prepared in advance for me to do.
So today I choose TRUE. And on the days I'm tempted to believe the lies, I'll turn to God's word and be reminded again.
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.Philippians 4:8-9
